In any kind of business, Customer credit control plays a significant role as it is the system to minimize the financial risk of a business by extending credit to the customers. And the customers can reply it quickly.
Sage X3 plays a critical role in customer credit control as it allows you to set up several checks in the system, so you are at minimal financial risk. You must be aware of the credit management performed in Sage X3 at Customer master screen. Also, we can block/unblock the customer based on the Authorized credit. You can refer the link below to understand how it works.
Sage X3 provides “Customer locking” functionality where in, you can track the customer credit level. Also, this allows to modify the customer status blocked/unblocked as a function of their authorized credit level. You can do it for a range of customers at a time. The customers having Credit control set to “check” or “hold” are applicable for this functionality.
For eg., on customer master screen, if a customer has the credit level set with certain amount and credit control is set to “check”.
Also, the parameter (SCDTUNL) “Authorization to unlock order” or blocking option is set to “Yes” as shown below. (Refer the above link to know working of this parameter)

Now, if you create a sales order for that customer for which the credit level is already exceeded then you can allocate, deliver, or invoice the order when customer has exceeded their authorized credit level.
But, if the parameter SCDTUNL “Authorization to unlock order” is set to “No”, then you cannot allocate, deliver, or invoice the order.
Coming to the Customer locking screen, it has below fields to be entered.
- Navigate to: A/P-A/R accounting > Open items > Customer locking

- Control: You can select the required control type from “Credit control” or “Payment delay control”.
- All pay-by customers: You can check it to include all the customers
- Pay-by customer start/end: You can select range of customers to apply the credit locking functionality.
- Allowance days: You can enter minimum overdue days and according to the number of days, the amount of due open items is determined by adding overdue open items.
- Maximum amount: Enter the amount which will be considered as minimum credit amount to block the customer. That is, if the credit limit is already set for a customer and the amount entered in this field is less than the credit limit amount set for a customer and if the blocking option is selected then this customer will be blocked and cannot make the delivery of any order for this customer.
For e.g., on customer master screen, if customer AO061 has the credit level set as $13,000 and credit control is set to “check”.

If user enters Maximum amount as 12,000 (as shown in figure ‘Customer locking’ above) and the blocking option (SCDTUNL) is set to “No” then the customer AO061 will be blocked and user will not be able to allocate, deliver, or invoice the order for AO061.
However, if user enters Maximum amount as 14,000 and the blocking option (SCDTUNL) is set to “Yes” then the customer AO061 will be unblocked and user will be able to allocate, deliver, or invoice the order for AO061.
Thus, using customer locking functionality you can block/unblock range of customers at a time as well as track the credit level status of customers.
